About Online Degrees
Your Gateway To An Online Education

Is there any discrimination in the hiring process because of an online degree?

It is a common belief among busy professionals that employers tend to recognize online degrees less, as compared to degrees attained from land based institutions. Though one may not want to hear it, there is some truth in the belief of these individuals.

The education that is imparted through the offer of online degrees in some ways may prove to be superior to degrees attained through those traditional land and mortar educational institutions. Employers however, just don’t seem to recognize the quality of online degrees. This is just the sheer truth. The time and efforts that an individual may put into the completion of an online degree is not acknowledged in the eyes of an employer.

A major reason for employers putting online degrees under discriminatory scrutiny is because of the interaction factor. Companies in most countries of the world feel that online degrees offer their respective students with the ease of learning from the tranquil confines of their homes.

Online degree programs enable students to interact with faculties through the advanced communication features of web conferencing and chat rooms. This not only lessens their ability in communicating orally with peers, but also inhibits them from communicating with co-workers in a face to face professional office environment. These are just few of the aspects that employers take highly into consideration, when faced with the decision of recruiting online degree holders into their organization.

Yet another reason why employers discredit online degree holders, and tend to favor others holding traditional degrees, is probably because they feel that online degrees are counterfeit. It does not take a genius to realize that approximately 75% of the universities offering online degrees are not authentic. In light of the above, we really don’t blame employers.

The discrimination involved in the hiring process of online degree holders is exhibiting a major decline in recent years. Employers are beginning to value the knowledge and expertise of online degree holders. They’re willing to go that extra mile in even flushing out thousands of dollars in grooming their employees’ educational qualifications so that they may become better assets to the company.

Companies in various parts of the globe are devising ways and means through which their employees can continue with their education, without having to leave their professional workspaces. Online degrees are a great help in this.
